Show Of Hands is a Senior New Media Project by Alec Giorgio. It is the first New Media Senior Project to Utilize the Spark AR platform to deliver the content directly to your phone for you to have your own experiences with the art.
Alec believes that everyone can be an artist if given the proper tools and was inspired to make a variety of filters that people can use to play with on their own terms outside of a gallery space. It is inspired by his love for connection and creation.
In his piece, “Show Of Hands”, Alec Giorgio utilizes Instagram and the Spark AR platform to explore the ideas of interactivity, pop culture, and accessibility in art to create a piece that anyone can utilize for their own enjoyment.
The piece consists of 20 different Spark AR creations ranging from Digital Distortions to Interactive 3D Pieces to Games. Utilizing the Spark AR platform to create a variety of different pieces in one medium he hopes to explore how people can utilize art to bring joy to their lives or even make the creations their own giving them the building blocks to create their own experiences.
His goal for the piece is to create an accessible work of art in a new medium that can bring a portable ‘installation’ to the user's phone.
Since the debut of the project, ‘Show Of Hands’ has gained over 2 Million impressions on Instagram and continues to grow.
